Next Generation Purchase

A number of years ago, we helped a couple with young kids purchase a home in Fairfax, just west of Fair Oaks. They have been happy over the years, we have all stayed in touch, and - guess what - the kids grew up!! So when it was time, the family came to us to help a daughter purchase a condo as her first home. We introduced her to our favorite lender, who helped her set goals for how much to save, what debts to pay off, and the like. It was not long before she was ready to start looking in earnest. We took great care to discuss the pros and cons of a number of potential properties, and ended up selecting one in Alexandria, close to her work. The home inspection went well, and it was not long before she moved into her new home! This young lady, being independent like her parents, set her goals, put together the down payment she needed, and with a little help from her folks paying closing costs, was on her way.

Summary: We help all generations of families with their housing, and especially with Katie speaking millennial, we have youth as well as experience! Also, setting goals with a lender is a great way to start - they know what debts to focus on paying, can give targets for savings, and are constantly on the lookout for new loan options. Lastly, we see a number of parents assisting in one way or another - seems the recent increase in property values lets them either use equity to help or assist from other sources. It can be a tough first-time market - help should never be turned down!!!
